UKCRA meeting this month

Oct 1, 2009

Following the success of UKCRA’s annual Open Meetings for industry stakeholders for the past several years, UKCRA is offering an invitation to all printer cartridge remanufacturers and refillers to come along, meet the members, and discuss the benefits of being a part of the only organisation in the UK that continues to safeguard the future of remanufacturing.

The half day meeting will be held on October 21 in Warwick beginning at 10am. Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact UKCRA beforehand so that the organisers know the number of attendees. Attendance is free with morning and afternoon refreshments provided.

The speaker for the event is Dr. Michael Gell from Xanfeon, a consultant with the Carbon Disclosure Project http://www.cdproject.net/ created by President Clinton and now adopted worldwide.  Dr. Gell’s expertise is in providing consultancy and advisory services to businesses in the areas of energy, water, renewables, eco-design and carbon footprinting.

His topic will be ‘Cradle to Cradle’ based on McDonough & Braungart’s premise that the re-invention of human industry is not only within our grasp but also is our best hope for a future of sustaining prosperity.
Many organisations are now grading their suppliers by a range of environmental and sustainable factors and are using their procurement power to achieve their environmental objectives. Large companies, especially in the public sector, increasingly expect suppliers to match or exceed their environmental standards. This will be a good opportunity to see what will be expected from a supplier and have your questions answered by one of the experts on carbon reduction.
Should you and a colleague wish to attend please email info@ukcra.com  with ‘I/We would like to attend’ in the subject line – an invitation with directions to the venue will be sent.
