Customers are required to email OnTrac to register their interest and the delivery company will send out a free shipping document and a polybag.
The firm says it will ship the items to the appropriate destinations. It said: “We will handle all the shipping services, proper salvage methods and all cost involved in the recycling of these items.” Each customer will also receive a reusable Eco-Friendly bag.
Jessica Soltero of OnTrac added: “The printer cartridges will be both remanufactured and recycled. They are being sent to a facility where they are examined to determine if they can be cleaned and reused or remanufactured and if they can, they will be sold off to companies who can use them. If they cannot be remanufactured, they are taken apart and the plastic is recycled. The company facilitating this is Recycle Place.”
All credits received by recycling the cartridges will go directly to Habitat for Humanity, which will helps build homes for under-privileged and homeless families. Habitat for Humanity has built over 350,000 houses around the world, providing more than 1.75 million people in 3,000 communities with safe, decent, affordable shelter.
OnTrac offers an overnight package delivery service in a six-state area, including California, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and Utah. The company began in 1991.
