The company primarily focuses on mobile phone recycling, but has expanded to cover other electronic devices, and is planning to introduce cartridge collection.
Simon Walsh, co-founder of ShP, said: “We’ve succeeded in getting these results by the sheer hard work of the team at ShP. In a tough year for businesses, doubling our turnover is a major achievement – and we’ve done this through careful financial management and a commitment to our environmental responsibilities.
“The WEEE Directive means all businesses must dispose of their electronic waste responsibly so there are lots of opportunities for our business to grow and support firms. We’re always on the lookout for new ventures and have some exciting announcements to make in coming months to take the business forward.”
He added: “More and more businesses are taking their environmental responsibilities seriously and disposing of equipment properly. There really is no excuse for any electrical item ending up at landfill.”
ShP has continued to expand steadily since its founding in 2002. The Recycler reported in June that the company launched the first mobile collection scheme in the Middle East, partnering with electrical retail chain Emax.
In May, the company partnered with UK national newspaper The Daily Mirror to launch the innovative MirrorGoGreen website, which allows people to quickly and easily recycle phones, laptops, and other goods. Users can enter the model of the product and see how much it is worth, and the site will send a freepost envelope and even a courier to collect it.
