Dell reveals recycling expansion with 2010 Sustainability Report

Among other environmental progress, Dell reported that it has continued to expand its collection and recycling schemes, adding 445 more sites for its Reconnect electronics collection service. It reports that more than 220 million kilograms of equipment has been recycled since 2006.

Dell reported that more than 7.2 million pounds of recycled plastic had been used in its products in the last year. It also reduced the use of packaging by 18.2 million pounds, and introduced eco-friendly packaging using bamboo.

The OEM explained its decision to completely ban the export of all non-working electronic waste to developing countries last year, reportedly the first major technology company to do so.
