Tonnex joins Facebook to reach a larger audience

The number of Facebook users in Australia is now in excess of 9.5 million, which illustrates the potential for engaging an audience through the site.

Tonnex’s National Marketing Manager, James Rendell, commented: “We have obviously been aware of Facebook and its inherent capacity to engage with users for some time. I recall reading that in December (2009) there was just over 7½ million Australians using Facebook and now, with almost 2 million more Australian users in about 8 months, it shows that user adoption has well and truly been taken to the next level. We felt that last year wasn’t the right time for us to adopt such a strategy under the belief that we would not be reaching a large enough percentage of our customers, however, given these current growth trends we feel that now is the right time for us to have an active Facebook presence.”

According to Rendell, Facebook will form a key part of Tonnex’s communication strategy. “By virtue of its nature, Facebook creates a more informal medium for communication and as a result allows us to effectively elaborate on our marketing messages whilst collecting valuable feedback from our customers.”
