Aftermarket veteran invents glue from waste products

Oct 28, 2011

Angus Carnie, who has been working in the aftermarket and recycling industries for 14 years, says he has found an inventive new way to recycle waste products – turning them into a powerful glue.

Carnie has been working on his “Litter Glue” project for a number of years, and now plans to make it public after making strong progress with the process. He says the compound can be made with a  huge variety of waste material, and was inspired by material used in the imaging industry every day.

“I was inspired to start experimenting after a conversation I had with Brother about the amount of waste foil bags they ended up with from toner packaging,” he explained. “OEMs and remans both end up with lot of bits and pieces in this industry that no one quite knows what to do with.”

Carnie says the process is especially useful for aftermarket companies as there is no need to cleanse the materials used,  making it a useful way to dispose of items contaminated by toner. The benefit also comes in useful for industries such as food packaging. Carnie said that he had been in talks with several major newspapers and news stations and was currently seeking companies to take part in a trial to show the products’ capabilities.

“I think it could really be beneficial to a company,” he said. “For example, we can use up various kinds of waste they have hard time finding a use for, and it can also be used to create something new for the company. This is especially good for an aftermarket company that is already in the green market.”
