Lasertech gets favourable rulings in legal disputes

Oct 28, 2011

UK remanufacturing franchisor Lasertech has received two favourable court rulings this month in its on-going legal disputes with a former sales director.

As previously reported, Justin Williams launched legal action against the company earlier this year, claiming he had been unfairly dismissed for whistleblowing on alleged franchisee bullying and deceit. Williams began a successful unfair dismissal tribunal against his former company, along with several other  “vexatious” claims.

However, Lasertech has confirmed that two of these claims have now been set aside by the courts, with Justin Williams being required to pay costs in both cases. One concerns a CCJ (county court judgement) requiring £1,692 while the other concerns a statutory demand with a payment of £4,000.

The deadline for both payments has now passed, and Lasertech told The Recycler that neither has been paid. A third claim is currently still on-going.

Lasertech stated that it has got a High Court injunction against Justin Williams to prevent further litigation attempts. He had also previously launched a winding up petition against the company in order to reclaim money he said he was owed from the employment tribunal. If successful, a winding up petition can force a company to liquidate in order to pay debts.
