Japanese OEM Canon has announced it will be donating ¥10 million ($128,040) to aid relief efforts in Turkey following last weeks’ deadly earthquake.

More than 600 people were killed by the 7.1 magnitude quake, which struck near the eastern city of Van on 23 October, while 60,000 more have been left homeless after thousands of buildings were destroyed.

In a statement, Canon said: “We at Canon extend our heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this disaster and our thoughts go out to the victims and their families. While we realize that the road to recovery will be difficult and take time, we hope that the region will soon be able to begin the rebuilding and healing process.”

The OEM has also recently donated 50 million ($640,200) to help recovery efforts inThailand, where more than 300 people have been killed by the heaviest flooding in decades.
