HP acquires Hiflex Software

German printing management software maker reportedly acquired, although details of terms lacking.

Following Meg Whitman’s announcement that the company would not pursuing large-scale acquisitions, HP has announced the acquisition of Hiflex Software, a German printer management software developer.

Hiflex, based in Aachen and launched in 1991, “specialises in supplying print servies to the commercial printing and graphics industry”.

Vyomesh Joshi, HP Executive Vice President and head of Imaging and Printing Group, commented: “HP wants to break the traditional barriers of how and where business customers print, making it easy for them to produce custom or personalised materials anywhere, anytime… Hiflex’s technology provides a powerful platform to delover on this goal as part of our overall cloud printing strategy.”

Brain Marshall, an analyst with ISI Group, commented to AllthingsD that it was a “small deal [but] an inexpensive way for HP to build exposure to cloud services that integrate with existing HP assets”.
