Dec 22, 2011

The OEM has given Php 1 million ($23,800/€17,581) to help rescuers and charities helping recovery in the Philippines after this month’s typhoon.

Typhoon Sendong hit the southern coast of the Philippines on 16 December, particularly affecting the coastal cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan, with over 1,000 people losing their lives and tens of thousands affected by the damage done.

Epson added that it “wishes to extend its condolences to the affected families, and hopes for the speedy recovery of the areas damaged by the disaster”.

The OEM joins the ranks of a number of other printer manufacturers who have given financial aid to disaster recovery efforts in the past few months, including HP and Brother in Thailand after flooding, as well as Canon in Turkey after the recent earthquake and Brother again after a hurricane in the USA.
