Xerox printer sales soar in South Africa

Jun 29, 2012

South African sales of Xerox A4 laser printers and MFPs grow by 71 percent in Q1 2012 compared to Q1 2011.

The printer manufacturer saw its sales dramatically increase in South Africa, despite the overall laser printer market in the country declining by 28 percent, according to IDC figures.

Peter Vieira, Divisional Manager of Xerox Channels at Bytes Document Solutions, Xerox’s South African distributor explains that the improved sales figures are down increasing “range and depth of channel partners to allow us to reach new segments of the consumer and small to medium-sized business markets, including people who had previously not owned printers.

Vieira adds, “Xerox is developing the value-for-money products they are looking for, backed up by resellers that hold adequate stock and offer good support. All of these factors deliver the kind of experience that builds brand loyalty to both our channel and end-user customers.”

During 2011, Xerox sold 17,400 A4 laser printers in South Africa, representing a growth of 51 percent compared to the previous year. Vieira claims that, as many of the company’s customers are first-time buyers, they have been able to build a relationship with the brand and the services on offer.

“We have seen rapid and sustained growth over the past two years, with total sales in excess of 33 000 units” added Vieira, “We see all of these customers as potential brand ambassadors for Xerox’s entire product range.”
