County Council saves approximately $200,000 since switching to using remanufactured cartridges.

Fairfax News has published a list of green purchasing tips to encourage local readers and businesses to adopt environmental stances and save money in the process, in which the news outlet extols the benefits of using remanufactured cartridges.

Stating that Fairfax County Council has recently made the transition to remanufactured cartridges, Fairfax News stipulates that following the switch, the council has saved approximately $200,000 (€159,237) annually.

Readers are also encouraged to research products and companies you purchase from and to follow eco-labels, to see whether devices match the environmental practises of your own business; and to limit printing from not only your own company but of catalogues, coupons and other miscellaneous detritus that invariably builds up.

Other areas of environmental consideration include exploring ways to prolong the lifespan of office devices, and using recycled products – in the instance of Fairfax County Council, a 30 percent switch to recycled copier paper has resulted in an estimated 2,700 trees saved annually.
