New cloud-based system produces online receipts for business transactions, benefitting small businesses.PrintWeek reports on the development of a new “paperless receipt” technology that is claimed by London-based developer EReceipts to be of benefit to SMEs.
The technology relies on a cloud-based system that produces electronic copies of a company’s purchases and invoices and sends them to the customer’s dedicated online account. The data is then transferred directly to the customer’s accounting system and can then be viewed by customers at any time on EReceipt’s dedicated website using either a computer or the EReceipt mobile app, with users being given an EReceipts account card and individual bar code for identification.
Should a purchase be made from a business not using the EReceipt technology, customers can send a photograph of their receipt to their account using a smart phone, with the system performing a “datascrape” enabling it to export the information to the user account.
Shishir Bankapur, EReceipt Technology Director claimed that SMEs have already shown interest ahead of the technology’s launch on 15 September, commenting: “Most of them use accounting software and this will save them an awful lot of time on manually dealing with invoicing and expenses, and for an SME time translates into money. Because they are also very tightly staffed their resources get freed up to focus on the practical business operations.”
Different EReceipt packages will be available to businesses, from a “basic free option” to a “comprehensive account” featuring the option for unlimited datascrapes and reporting systems at a cost of £40 per month ($63/€50).
Although the technology will initially be focused in London, the company plans to expand nationally from October and internationally later in 2012 and in 2013, with Malta, Australia and the US being listed as potential markets.
