Study reveals office equipment and supplies vendors expect mobile printing to increase in Latin America.

InfoTrends conducted a study, titled Market Pulse 2012: Latin America, which surveyed IT decision makers in the office equipment and supplies market in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico and found that respondents are anticipating a significant increase in printing from mobile devices.

Respondents were asked if they had a print solution in place to enable employees to print from their own mobile devices, with Brazilian companies being the most likely to have a mobile print solution in place or be beginning to plan for a mobile print solution; although Mexican and Argentinian IT decision makers were also indicated to be “highly interested” in mobile print solutions, with the majority of respondents from these countries also reporting that they have implemented or are planning to implement a mobile print solution for their business.

InfoTrends states that it is encouraging vendors to do everything possible to ensure that their direct sales forces and channel partners are beginning to install solutions for printing from mobile devices at customer locations.

Zac Butcher, Director of InfoTrends’ Digital Peripherals Solutions Consulting Service commented: “These responses represent a huge opportunity for vendors as they indicate that the IT decision maker audience will be receptive to discussions regarding mobile printing solutions.

“As the office extends to a wider range of work locations, and businesses find themselves supporting a diverse range of mobile platforms, it is becoming critical that vendors effectively extend the print infrastructure to the mobile worker.”
