President Ian Elliott speaks on its NoTwist drum gear component patent recently awarded by the US Patent Office.
Following being awarded patent number 8,275,291 for its NoTwist drum gear component from the US Patent Office, Print-Rite North America President Ian Elliott has spoken on how this will impact on the aftermarket industry.
Noting that Print-Rite has approximately 2,000 patents and patent applications active, the company states that “no other aftermarket cartridge manufacturer has been awarded such a patent”, and intends to utilise the NoTwist gear patent as a component featured in both remanufactured and new-build compatible toner cartridges.
Elliott commented: “Over the past several years, the issue of intellectual property, specifically relating to gear drums, has been highly topical, with Canon filing over 50 claims against various violators. This most recent NoTwist drum gear patent further illustrates Print-Rite’s capabilities in engineering innovation, and intellectual property advancement. This is an important step forward for the North American aftermarket imaging industry.”
Print-Rite was awarded the patent on 25 September, and stated that it “is pleased that the US Patent Office has recognised the invention in Print-Rite’s new product”.
