Start-up companies expected to boost sales of laser printers in region.
Bangkok Post reports that an increase in start-up companies in Thailand is expected to boost laser printer sales in the region by between seven and 10 percent in 2013, with the Thai government’s 40 billion baht ($1.3 billion/€1 billion) Tang Tua Dai Fund helping new entrepreneurs to start their own businesses.
While the laser printer market fell by 0.4 percent in the first half of 2012 as a result of the 2011 floods, sales for 2012 are expected to have grown by five percent to between 450,000 and 460,000 units, with many new start-up SMBs helping to boost sales of laser printers and other office equipment in the region.
In particular, the colour laser printer segment is expected to grow due to lower pricing, with the market share predicted to rise from 10 percent to 15 percent in 2013, reaching 75,000 units, 15,000 of which will be sold to businesses. Furthermore, multifunctional colour laser printer sales are also expected to grow “at a double- digit rate, surpassing overall market growth during 2012-13”.
