Aston and James wins the Superstat award for the third time in a row.
Waste Management World reported that the UK office supplier had won its third award for recycling 9,940 empty toner cartridges between December 2011 and November 2012, with the award offered by Superstat and cartridge company ERS Europe, which was previously taken over by Clover.
The award sees office supplies companies in the UK “compete to collect these cartridges which can be recycled”, and the award is said to aim to “encourage both those supplying and using office supplies to recycle their equipment”. Aston and James in turn notes it has “long been known for its environmentally responsible choices”, offering its own recycling services for desks, chairs and more from offices.
The company also donated money for each cartridge to the Blue Cross charity, which helps take care of ill, injured or abandoned animals, with Aston and James set to raise £5,000 ($7,566/€5,794) by the end of this month. In addition, the company stated that its customers can “easily get involved” in helping collect over 10,000 cartridges by giving empties to delivery drivers, or by ordering a collection bin.
Aston and James’ Managing Director stated: “I am extremely proud of my team for the third year running. It’s great for the environment, our customers benefit as it removes the headache of moving their used toners on, our drivers are already on site so it costs nothing and our nominated beneficiary has been the Blue Cross charity. We will continue to do our bit for the environment and we have our eyes firmly fixed on recycling 10,000 units this year!”
