The SureColor printers are aimed at the fashion printing industry.
The two new machines are roll-fed dye sublimation fabric printers, and are the 44-inch SureColor SC-F6070 and the 64-inch SureColor SC-F7070. Epson states that the machines form part of its “worldwide strategy to aggressively grow its commercial and industrial printer range”.
The machines feature the company’s Micro Piezo printhead technology, and are the first dye sublimation models from Epson, as well as the first in the market “in which every component” from the ink to the printer chassis has been “designed and manufactured by a single company”.
The printers can print at a resolution of 1,440 by 720 dpi on all transfer papers, as well as onto sportswear, accessories and signage, with print speeds of up to 63.4 square metres per hour. The new fabric ink, UltraChrome DS, is specially formulated to produce “outstanding images with vibrant colours, intense blacks, sharp contours and smooth gradations”, and dries quickly, with ink refill packs available from the manufacturer.
The refill packs help to refill the 1500 millilitre ink tank systems in the machines, which are refilled by the one litre packs available from the manufacturer. The machines also feature software integration with RIP (Rasterized Imaging Processor) programmes.
Endo Koichi, Managing Director of Epson Southeast Asia, and one of the engineers behind the Micro Piezo technology, stated: “This year is the 20th anniversary of Epson’s Micro Piezo Technology, and we are very excited with the launch of the Epson SureColor F-series as it brings the power and quality of our Micro Piezo print head to the fabric printing industry.
“With the strong fashion industry in the region that is still growing rapidly, we are confident of strong sales performance for these two models because of the high quality and cost effectiveness they offer customers.”
