TechRadar reported on the launch of the new MFPs from the OEM, which feature a 10.1-inch display for “managing print jobs and browsing websites”, which the news site mentions moves the printers “one step closer [to] becoming fully-fledged PCs”.

The devices include the MX-5141N, MX-5140N, MX-4141N and the MX4140N, and each can connect to internal networks and the internet, with print speeds of up to 51ppm in colour and monochrome. The printers are also mobile printing-capable, with Sharp applications included in the machines such as Open System Architecture (OSA), which can allow third-party developers to create “custom applications that link the MFPs to software programmes on a server or PC”.

The printers also feature a document reader, network-accessible hard drives, a paper capacity of 6,600 sheets, and security functions including user authentication and secure data encryption, alongside eco modes. Pricewise, the machines start at £14,995 ($23,723/€17,848) for the MX-4140N and reach £17,995 ($28,470/€21,419) for the top-end MX-5141N.
