ITWeb reported on the launch of the printer, which is said to be targeting small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in South Africa. The OEM noted that the machines “produce colour documents at up to twice the speed and half the cost per page of laser printers”, with four devices in the range including the X476, X576, X451 and 551.

The machines use “up to 50 percent less energy” than other printers, and its 970 and 971 cartridges “create up to 50 percent less supplies waste than laser”, according to HP. A video of the Pro X range in operation was previously shared by The Recycler, and the device was officially launched almost a year ago.

Thibault Dousson, General Manager of Printing and Personal Systems (PPS) for HP SA, stated: “The printers feature a stationary print head that spans the entire width of the paper, enabling single-pass printing at high speeds with ink that dries in 20 seconds. The company’s next-generation inkjet platform, the HP Officejet Pro X series, can deliver documents at up to 70 pages per minute in black or colour.”

Merce Barcons, Vice President of Inkjet Hardware at HP EMEA, added: “This generation of inkjet printers, designed specifically for businesses, enables time-pressured people to succeed in a competitive economic environment.

“The Officejet Pro X series produces high-quality documents at the fastest ever speed and with lower costs. With less energy use, these printers can also help business owners reduce overheads and cut waste.”
