Cartridge manufacturer responds to allegations made against it and related companies, asserting that it stands behind “all of the products they sell”.
UTec has acknowledged that it and four of its related companies, including Print-Rite, have been named in the lawsuit filed by Canon relating to patent infringement of a toner cartridge gear, stating that itself and the related companies “will respond to Canon’s allegations accordingly” and that they “stand behind all of the products they sell”.
UTec said that the companies “are also aware” that some customers that have purchased the accused cartridges have also been sued and/or have received letters from Canon accusing them of patent infringement.
“A basic principle of the companies’ business is respect for the valid intellectual property rights of others, and the companies and their counsel will respond to Canon’s allegations accordingly”, said UTec. “In the meantime, the companies’ customers can be assured that the companies stand behind all of the products they sell, and that any resolution of the dispute will address Canon’s allegations against the companies’ customers concerning the companies’ cartridges”.
The Recycler reported last week on the case, with Canon releasing a statement and a list of all 18 aftermarket companies it has accused of patent infringement; including MSE and ILG.
