Kycoera reported financial results for 2013, noting that shipments of both its mobile phone handsets and PCs “declined” compared to the previous year, but adding that shipments of smartphones and tablets had increased alongside other market areas, with “increased revenue in every Kyocera Group reporting segment”.

These cumulative increases meant that consolidated net sales grew to an “all-time high” of ¥1,447,369,000 ($14.1 million/€10.1 million), a growth of 13.1 percent, whilst profit also increased “due to the higher revenue” as well as “success in reducing costs” to ¥120,582,000 ($1.1 million/€847,621), an increase of 56.8 percent on the previous year. Finally, income before tax increased by 44.3 percent to reach ¥146,268,000 ($1.42 million/€1.02 million).

The company predicts that in 2015 it will see “solid growth” across its key markets, with communications and information technology demand “forecast to remain brisk”. It also added that it will “work to expand production” in Asia, with an expectation that its promotion of cost efficiency “to enhance profitability” will achieve positive results in 2015.
