OEM’s MFC-J5320DW and MFC-J5720DW MFPs designed to reduce ink consumption as well as costs.
Bit.com reported on Brother’s new range of business inkjet MFPs, which “could be cheaper than your local copy shop for short runs” as they use separate cartridges for each different coloured ink and feature an ‘ink save mode’ to reduce consumption.
Both MFPs are also designed to reduce energy usage when not in use, using just 0.04W when switched off but still plugged into the mains. They are able to print on paper up to A3 in size and can print in duplex mode on A4 paper. Print speeds can reach 22ppm in black and 20ppm in colour, with an automatic document feeder also helping to save time when copying, scanning or faxing multiple pages.
In addition, the MFC-J5720DW includes two paper trays, allowing users to regularly print on two different paper types or sizes, or on “other media such as envelopes”. It also has a faster fax modem than the MFC-J5320DW, has a larger touchscreen and is able to scan “both sides of the page in one pass”.
In terms of connectivity, both models offer USB, Ethernet and Wi-Fi, including Wi-Fi Direct support for easier mobile device compatibility. Both AirPrint for iOS devices and Google Cloud Print for Android devices are supported, and the MFPs also integrate with “Flikr, Google Drive, Evernote, Dropbox, OneDrive and other online services”.
Costs-wise, Bit.com states that ink used in the devices “costs as low as 2.3 cents (€0.19) per page when using high-capacity cartridges”, with the printers themselves priced at $229 (€185) for the MFC-J5320DW and $299 (€241) for the MFC-J5720DW.
