The OEM has “simplified the process” of printing from a mobile device with the new app.
An article on the Xerox blog discusses the new technology, which equips mobiles with the software PCs naturally have for linking up with a printer. The plug-in can also manage stapling, finishing and print security.
“We have our mobile devices in the offices but most of the times we have to forward a document to a desktop computer, to print to a printer”, the article explains. It adds that over 50 percent of smartphone users along with 35 percent of tablet users, but they don’t know how to.
Fred Ramsay, Product Marketing Manager for Xerox, said that while computers have developed with print software and Microsoft Office compatibility, these features have been more slow to migrate to smartphones.

This is especially the case with Android phones, which have “several different flavours”, so the Google fitted its Android KitKat version with embedded printing technology. To cater to this, Xerox has developed a “print service plug-in” for the KitKat (4.4) version and above.
The article predicts “more Internet connected devices and your phone becoming a hub for a more personalised experience” at work and at home in the future, but “people are not looking for a paperless office”. It concludes that users are looking for improved integration “between all of their devices”, including mobile devices, desktop computers, peripherals and printers.
