The importer and distributor hosted an event in Bucharest, Romania in June about “the major problems [for] Romanian recyclers”.
The company announced the event in May, stating that it would be focused on the theme of ‘Refilling OEM used cartridges versus compatibles 100 percent new cartridges – pros and cons’. The seminar was held at the Ramada North Hotel in Bucharest on 19 June, with “great” interest shown from industry companies, as 120 delegates attended from 85 industry businesses.
Toko noted that “five of the six major national importers and distributors of raw materials” and new-build cartridges were represented, with industry representatives from Apex Microelectronics, IMEX, TonerFill and Freckles Bg present. The event saw six presentations and a practical workshop, with Toko CEO Victor Matache opening the programme and discussing his business, before a debate on the “pros and cons” of remanufactured and new-build cartridges took place.
This debate was said to be the “most animated section” of the day, with attendees “rais[ing] a lot of interesting questions and problems” in terms of the two types of products. The debate concluded that “the way to succeed in the recharging activity is to focus on the quality and to add more value to our services”. Matache then followed this with a question-and-answer session about professional remanufacturing and recycling, before a coffee break.
After the break, IMEX EU’s Business Development Director Angel Bardaji discussed the background of the toner manufacturer, before Matache gave a “short history of chips” presentation. Following this was another “animated” presentation from Apex’s Senior Engineer Ben Wu, who was one of the creators of the “concept of the resettable chips and Unismart system”, with many attendees raising “technical questions”, and Apex awarded a Unismart system to the “most interesting question” asked.

After a lunch break, Wu spoke again about the Unismart system, before the day’s events concluded with a short series of practical demonstrations and “hands-on procedures” from Toko’s Technical Manager Marian Sanislav. This saw 50 technicians from other companies debate and discuss “practical problems that arise daily” in terms of remanufacturing.
Toko stated that after the event concluded, it “received the proposal to organise a meeting with the main importers of 100 percent new-build cartridges” to “try to set a national strategy”, adding that “the feedback collected from the attendees is positive, and we plan to organise another technical seminar this autumn”.
