The OEM has produced the TS300P production dye sublimation wide-format printer.
Printing Impressions World reported on the launch of the TS300P by Mimaki, with the 77-inch wide roll-to-roll machine a “dedicated transfer paper printer offering new levels of quality and productivity for digital textile printing” as well as “applications requiring transfer to hard surfaces”, with a maximum print resolution of 1,440dpi.
The device is set to be launched at the NBM Show in California later in July, and utilises a “high gap printhead” with production speeds of 1,238 square feet (115 square metres) per hour in four-colour and 700 square feet (65 square metres) in six-colour mode. The printhead is a “high gap” creation to avoid “cockling”, which can “produce uneven results” when printing on “thin transfer papers”. This also helps ensure “accurate ink droplet placement”, and enables “high quality printing”.
The TS300P also utilises Sb410 sublimation inks in two litre ink packs, which offer “enhanced resolvability” and improve production yield “by ensuring more stable ink jetting” for “deep blacks and near-fluorescent colours”. The improved stability of the inkjet means “daily cleaning is easier and fewer regular cleanings are required”, allowing for “cost reduction and higher throughput”. Ink is also dispensed “between passes” using a “gradation-like method”.

With the printhead, four are included consisting of a total of 3,200 nozzles, with three different drop sizes “automatically determined by ink type and print mode [to] deliver accurate dot placement even with high head gap printing”. Nozzles also utilise both the nozzle check unit (NCU) and nozzle recovery system (NRS), which work together to “enable continuous or unattended printing” by “ensuring any clogged nozzles do not reduce the print image quality”, checking and cleaning each before printing.
Ken VanHorn, Mimaki USA’s Director of Marketing and Business Development, commented: “Mimaki has a long history of developing products for the digital textile printing industry and is a recognised leader in this segment. The TS300P printer is a new high production, feature rich printer that leverages the years of expertise and industry learning in the dye sublimation process.
“It has been engineered specifically for the dye-sublimation industry delivering cost-effective and high quality printing while significantly increasing productivity on thin transfer materials.”
