The wide-format printer series features a new UltraChrome HD ink set, and includes four new devices that range in size from 24 to 44 inches.
The SC-P6070 and the SC-P8070 are 24 inches and 44 inches wide respectively, with both printing in eight colours from nine cartridges and intended for photos and retail POS printing, while the SC-P7070 and SC-P9070 are 24 inches and 44 inches wide respectively, printing in 10 colours from 11 cartridges, designed for proofing and packaging in design offices and printing companies.
The new devices also have a higher D-Max for darker blacks and deeper colours, optional HDD support and upgraded Precision Core printheads with VSDT (Variable-Sized Droplet Technology) for improved quality, Wide Format Online reported.
Each of the devices offers a maximum resolution of 2,880 x 1,440dpi and “significantly reduced operating costs” and power consumption.
The SC-P7070 and SC-P9070’s 11 ink cartridges make for “an unparalleled 99 percent max certified Pantone coverage”, while the devices feature auto Photo Black/Matte Black exchange. These devices are successors to Epson’s Stylus Pro SP-7900 and SP-9900 printers, and use an extended version of the UltraChrome HD ink. Both can be configured with either Light Light Black, which gives the “highest colour gamut in the industry” or the new Violet option.
In turn, the SC-P6070 and SC-P8070 are direct successors to the Stylus Pro SP-7890 and SP-9890 printers, offering nine colour ink sets which can print eight colours at a time and auto PK/MK exchange. Both use Epson UltraChrome HD ink and adapt the same technology as the recently released SureColor SC-P800, with the latest HD/HDX inks introducing a new photo black.
The SureColor P-Series printers are set to ship in late October, with prices starting at: $4,995 (€4,443) for the SC-P6070; $6,495 (€5,777) for the SC-P7070; $8,995 (€8,001) for the SC-P8070; and $10,995 (€9,780) for the SC-P9070.
