Paperworld launches Sustainable Office Day

Oct 29, 2015

PW Green Office Day 2015The event is the new name for ‘Green Office Day’, and hopes to “draw attention” to the ecological effect of environmentally unfriendly waste caused by office equipment such as inkjet and laser cartridges.

The name was changed as the organisers are “expanding the lecture spectrum to include social themes in addition to environmental aspects”. Holistic sustainability with respect to ecologically equitable procurement will be a central theme for the day, with a variety of sub-issues being used to illustrate the breadth of the subject.

Paperworld 2016 is also the platform for the ‘Office & Environment’ competition, with the 2015 winners being announced in the afternoon of the Sustainable Office Day, which falls on 2 February next year. The winners will be announced by the BAUM (German Environmental Management Association), which will be giving a number of talks on the day.

The main winners will also be asked to give brief presentations describing their projects during the award ceremony. BAUM Board Member Dieter Brübach will present the awards. He said that around 40 companies had entered the competition, more than half of which were awarded above-average points.

“For us, this indicates that a lot is already being done but that there is still need for further action and, in particular, the provision of information,” he explained. Paperworld said that around 17 million people work in German offices.
