The OEM has released the Dynamic Workflow and RemoteCall apps to “enhance productivity and save operational costs”.
The apps, according to WhoWired, are aimed at saving costs for both end users and engineers, and are the “newest app additions” to the Smart UX Centre, the OEM’s Android-based user interface for its Smart MultiXpress range of MFPs. Both are said to save time because they run “multiple document-handling tasks in one step”, and connect printers to engineers for remote servicing.
Dynamic Workflow allows users to “create and customise their own workflow with multiple apps”, by integrating multiple tasks including scanning, character recognition or document distribution “into a single workflow” and then saving them as a one-touch shortcut for “future use”. RemoteCall meanwhile is a paid-for app that connects printers to engineer service systems for both diagnostics and troubleshooting, and engineers can control the user’s Smart UX Centre screen.
This then allows the engineer to “guide the user through the troubleshooting process”, and engineers can also connect to the user’s PC for troubleshooting, with the remote service saving both time and money “for both end users and Samsung’s partners by minimising service visits”. New apps are released for the Smart UX Centre each month, with the centre part of Samsung’s Internet of Things project for “an improved office experience”.
David SW Song, Senior Vice President of Printing Solutions Business at Samsung, commented: “Modern mobile technologies have much to offer in the business environment, and we’re creating a new printing ecosystem around this concept. The Smart UX Centre and all of the apps that we develop for it will make the printer compatible with Android, offering users greater mobility and connectivity.
“We’re bringing the Smart UX Centre experience to users’ mobile devices, to suit their BYOD work life in an increasingly mobile world. Printing doesn’t have to happen in the office anymore. It can happen anywhere you are.”
