In a press release, the company announced that the programme will be able to work on selected OKI and Samsung printers, and that the uniFlow Secure Print Applet offers “an embedded Secure Printing experience with a consistent uniFLOW look and feel to customers in certain mixed fleet environments, providing a single-user interface as users move from networked device to device”.

The applet uses the customers printer’s own LCD screen, and provides access controls to the device and the print jobs by asking users for identification using a PIN code, user name or password or a swipe card, and the applet can also be used from “networked device-to-device”. The uniFLOW Secure Print Applet is available through authorised Canon dealers and Canon Solutions America.

Randy Dazo, Group Director for InfoTrends, said: “A comprehensive print management plan not only provides for security features and ease of use, but also flexibility, both in daily operation and in the long term. By extending its offering of the uniFLOW Secure Print Applet to Non-Canon devices, Canon is demonstrating its confidence in uniFLOW and its abilities to provide a solution that can adapt to customers’ office technology, as they continually transform and grow.”

Toyotsugu Kuwamura, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Business Imaging Solutions Group for Canon USA, commented: “Canon is pleased to further expand our support for heterogeneous customer environments. By extending uniFLOW Secure Print capabilities to fleets employing certain OKI and Samsung devices, we are pleased to help customers take advantage of uniFLOW’s power to help become proactive in the day-to-day management of print activity across their enterprises.”
