The OEM’s Healthcare MFP solution “helps providers digitise patient information for secure online exchange” in the USA.

In a press release, the OEM noted that the Healthcare MFP is “designed for smaller healthcare providers”, and offers an “efficient, affordable, compliant approach to sharing basic patient data securely across the healthcare ecosystem”. Because larger hospitals “share patient data digitally”, many smaller providers “still use fax machines or the US mail to share patient data in a secure and compliant way”, with the new MFP helping “digitise patient information”.

This can offer “secure online exchange, improving care coordination and patient outcomes”, wit the printers “designed specifically” for the smaller providers and connected by Kno2, a “clinical document exchange cloud service”. The MFP is also ConnectKey-enabled with “ready-to-use apps to speed up paper-dependent business processes and make it easier for users to collaborate and work more efficiently”.

Rather than sending or inputting patient details manually, the MFP can “simply scan patient documents” using the ‘Share Patient Information’ button, allowing users to “select a provider’s address from the national directory and click send”, helping avoid “another copy of protected health information” and remaining compatible with the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) standard.

Other features include HIPAA compliance, an MFP touch panel, direct messaging, the “ability to request patient information electronically”, a “range of ways to exchange information depending on current provider capabilities”, and Equifax services “for identity verification to secure patient information from start to finish”.

The device is available in the US only as a “new configuration” of a wide range of machines, including: the WorkCentre 3655i; 5865i; 5875i; 5890i; 5945i; 5955i; 6655i; 7220i; 7225i; 7830i; 7835i; 7845i; and 7855i. Prices begin at $2,500 (€2,347) or $10 (€9.38) per month “on a typical lease for a comparable standard Xerox WorkCentre”.

Tracey Koziol, Senior Vice President of Xerox’s Office and Solutions Business Group, commented: “For example, a mid-sized urgent care provider in Dallas, Texas found that the Healthcare MFP not only saved the time it takes to transfer patient information, but also time it took to redo forms due to inputting errors – with a census of 500 patients, that adds up to considerable time saved.

“The Healthcare MFP provides a secure digital exchange workflow solution that is both intuitive and familiar, making actionable clinical information available more quickly to the care community, resulting in better patient outcomes.”
