Police have caught a man suspected of stealing thousands of dollars worth of cartridges from Office Depot stores across the US.
News 4 San Antonio reported that Whit Paige Taylor had been caught in San Antonio after allegedly stealing cartridges from Office Depot stores across the USA, and Officer Doug Greene, of the San Antonio Police Department, said that “we’re talking thousands and thousands of dollars in property that was stolen”, adding that “Taylor allegedly steals ink cartridges and then sells them online”.
Taylor was caught after acting suspiciously in an Office Depot store in San Antonio, and the store staff watched him as he “started taking several ink cartridges or toner cartridges and putting them in the basket”, after which he went to the register to pay for one item, leaving the full basket near the door. After paying he then went to “grab the basket”, but staff stopped him.
Greene commented that “they’re the main factor on why this individual was caught”, and after police searched Taylor’s vehicle they found many disguises, as well as more than $2,400 (€2,262) worth of stolen items, Greene noting that “this individual was involved in thefts ranging from California to Missouri and also in Lubbock”.
Greene also told reporters that Taylor was wanted in Missouri, and was jailed in California twice in 2016 for theft. Police are investigating whether or not he was working with anyone else, and if any other stores were stolen from.
