The OEM has launched the SureColor P5070, which is said to increase “colour gamut and higher-density blacks”.
ProPrint reported on the printer’s launch, noting that the 17-inch wide-format also offers “improved dust and static control for reduced maintenance and increased durability and reliability”. The printer also utilises the OEM’s 200ml UltraChrome HDX 10-colour inkjet cartridges, which feature “newly-developed core pigments” and are “1.5 times denser than the previous generation”, with a “wider contrast ratio” alongside “improved resin encapsulation technology”.
This offers the prints “superior gloss uniformity and optically clearer, sharper images”, while the 10-channel PrecisionCore TFP printhead includes a “new ink-repellent surface coating” alongside the aforementioned dust and static control features. These help reduce nozzle clogging and maintenance, while the printhead also “supports printless nozzle checks for time, production and resource efficiency”.
Epson added the machine “auto-switches” between a high-capacity front paper cassette and roll media feeders, and that it includes a “power-driven roll media spindle and roll printing up to 100 feet” alongside an “internal high-speed single pass rotary cutter”. Other features include “print permanence”, 460 nozzles “per colour channel”, dot screening, borderless printing, optional spectroproofer and an LCD panel, with the machine available now for AU$2,995 (US$2,252/€2,099).
Craig Heckenberg, General Manager of Epson Australia, commented: “The SureColor P5070 is the latest addition to the Epson SureColor product line, which is bringing Epson’s photographic technology to the next level. Sitting above the popular Epson SureColor SC-P800 in the range, the SureColor P5070 packs all of the SureColor printing technology into a 17-inch desktop model, providing photographers and graphic designers with the best imaging technology has to offer.”
