The remanufacturer has won the 100 Greatest Brands award, and that CEO Sassan Dieter Khatib-Shahidi was selected as one of the 50 greatest leaders.
The Dubai-based company won the award in Singapore for Asia’s Greatest Brands and Leaders 2016, with Khatib-Shahidi stating on LinkedIn that the awards, audited by PWC, have given GIT “recognition beyond the Middle East and Africa”. Khatib-Shahidi was also selected as one of the 50 greatest leaders in the awards.
In November The Recycler reported the nominations, which saw the remanufacturer shortlisted for the 100 Greatest Brands for Asia-GCC. Khatib-Shahidi, stated on LinkedIn at that time that the remanufacturer had been “shortlisted” for the 100 Greatest Brands Asia-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) 2016, adding that GIT would “stay tuned for [a] final decision” on 15 December in Singapore.”
Last year, the company opened a new East African subsidiary, and planned an expansion, which it later reported on the success of. Recently, it confirmed that it had joined a United Nations (UN) sustainability initiative to “align their strategies and operations with universal principles and human rights”, as well as being interviewed on local radio in Dubai and joining a UAE-based web store.
