The partnership was announced in a press release, as the two companies join together to offer more to their customers. Toshiba TEC’s partnership with Kodak Alaris is said to be a strategic move to help customers “streamline business processes” and manage data. Kodak Alaris provides scanners and “information management technology”, which is becoming more important in business according to AIIM Market Intelligence, who said that 80 to 90 percent of businesses have poorly organised data, and some organisations have none at all.

The union will allow a “comprehensive suite of capture and information management solutions”, which will collate documents and data received with “existing systems and processes”, and will save paper, reducing costs. The automated workflows will change data management, the companies claim, releasing employees to focus on more essential jobs and they said that “time-critical documents can be processed accurately and accessed without delay”, while the advantages of digital records over paper include “the ability to synchronise information, increase security and quickly access critical documents”.

As part of the deal, Toshiba TEC will be providing Kodak Alaris scanners for “specific business applications”, and will provide software to programme the systems, as well as “a single point of contact”, removing the problem from customers.

Becky Hunt, Account Director for Kodak Alaris Information Management, explained: “We are delighted to partner with Toshiba TEC to offer our portfolio of proven information management solutions. Our comprehensive offer that includes standalone wireless and networked desktop devices, through to high-volume production scanners, software, service and support, complement Toshiba’s industry-leading multifunctional devices. These best-in-class technology solutions will provide organisations with the capabilities they need to transform data into a powerful competitive advantage.”

Ben Gston, Head of Managed Services at Toshiba TEC, said: “Toshiba TEC’s agreement with Kodak Alaris positions it as a strategic global partner and means we can provide a comprehensive managed capture service to the UK market. It is all part of our on-going commitment to solving business challenges through the application of intelligent solutions.”
