The OEM has “expanded” its original recall of batteries for its HP laptops and Compaq Notebook.
NWA reported that the battery recalls were as a result of “fire and burn hazards”, and consequently 101,000 lithium ion batteries which contain Panasonic cells have been recalled by the company. The laptops that use these batteries include: the HP Probook, Compaq, HP Envy, Compaq Presario and HP Pavilion.
These laptops were sold between March 2013 and October 2016, and in June last year 41,000 batteries were recalled. A new report showed that the batteries were overheating, melting and charring, which caused HP Inc to expand its recall. The company are offering a free replacement battery to customers who are affected.
