A student was caught stealing printer cartridges worth thousands of dollars at a community college.
ABC15 reported that 24-year-old Blake Skowron broke into the college in Arizona on 26 February, and allegedly stole $2,000 (€1,884) worth of printer cartridges. Police caught Skowron at the scene after it was reported that there was a suspicious vehicle in the car park, and after a license check they contacted his mother who owns the car.
Scowron’s mother then rang him to tell him that the police were waiting for him in the car park. The alleged burglar told police that he had gained access to the building through an unlocked door, after which he allegedly broke into “several cabinets”, causing $5,000 (€4,710) worth of damage and took the cartridges, which he put by the door.
After he had received the call from his mother, he left the building but was arrested later “at his home in North Phoenix”, and has been charged with burglary. Security officials reviewed footage that reportedly showed Skowron prying open and taking the cartridges, storing them by the door, receiving a phone call, and then leaving.
