Company recycles ink for artists

Mar 22, 2017

An Australian company collects ink from recycled cartridges and sells it to artists.

Broadsheet reported that a company called Lousy Ink collects the ink from a recycling plastics factory, where printer cartridges are recycled for their plastic, while the remains of the ink is collected as chemical waste. The company was founded by two artists, Oli Ruskidd and Mike Eleven, who had the idea of recycling the ink for local artists, and now the company is organising an exhibition in Melbourne to show what the artists have created with the ink.

More than 40 artists will showcase their work at the exhibition, and they all had a brief for their creations, which was to “create a new work that pushes the flexibility of the ink”. The company also supports Arts Project Australia, “a Victorian charity that supports artists with intellectual disabilities”, and 10 percent of every sale is donated to this cause.
