The franchise gives eight tips on renewing technology in the home office.
The article discusses eight items of equipment that may need updating in the home office for better efficiency and productivity. Desktops and laptops do not have longevity, and the former have a life span of three to eight years, while the later only two to five years, and if either is slow or lacks space “to store files” and download new software, then it is probably time to renew the model, Cartridge World advised.
Keyboards also need replacing periodically, and the new ones are more sophisticated and wireless, while opting for a “laser projected keyboard” could remove the need for a physical one at all, and for added comfort ergonomic keyboards may be the answer. The company added that “according to a recent Cartridge World survey, workers are printing emails, letters, proposals and other documents”.
Working from home may also mean users print coupons, recipes, pictures and travel documents. A printer is a necessity for a home office, the company added, and even working from home requires work to be protected as well as programmes and the operating system, so a back-up drive is a must, and these have a “finite lifespan”, according to Cartridge World.
Upgrading the router and modem will increase speeds and reliability, and purchasing the modem that is not from the cable company may increase speeds more. Using a digital assistant that uses voice commands can ease tasks such as playing music, ordering lunch and adjusting the heating, which can be a comfort if working alone.
Cartridge World added that users should check the PC or laptop camera provides quality images for webinars and virtual meetings, and upgrade if it does not, while finally a coffee or tea mug warmer will keep beverages warm for longer and takes up less space than a coffee machine.
