Ricoh may cut 100 jobs in UK

Temporary workers could lose their jobs at Ricoh’s Shropshire-based manufacturers.

Shropshire Star reported that 100 jobs could be lost due to changes in the company, as Ricoh closed its MFP Recycled Machines business. The OEM has been reorganising its operation at the UK-based plant due to a “reduced interest in its toner and bottling business”, and said that it would be laying off temporary workers as well as some of its employees who have worked there for many years, although there was a chance that they would all be reinstated in the autumn.

A statement from the company said: “Ricoh Products Limited has informed its employees of a number of initiatives undertaken to align the organisation with changing customer and market requirements. We have taken the decision to close the MFP Recycled Machines business, as a result of a significant decrease in customer demand for these services.

“We have also taken the decision to temporarily adjust the volume of activities within our toner bottling business. A number of these activities are expected to be resumed in autumn as seasonal demand increases again.”
