Apr 10, 2017

The OEM announced that its Ink Tank inkjet printers have achieved worldwide sales of 20 million.

Since Epson introduced the ink tank printer in Indonesia in 2010 they are now in over 150 countries and sales are growing steadily making up 10 percent of the laser and inkjet market which totalled 45 million printers at the end of March 2016.

The ink tank printers are said by Epson to save customers money because there is no need to change cartridges and the printing costs are lower and Epson forecast a “25% year-on-year unit sales growth for these printers in the fiscal year ended March 2017, and that these products will account for approximately 40% of Epson inkjet printers sold in the same period”.

Koichi Kubota, Director and Managing Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, Printing Solutions Operations Division, Epson, said: “High-capacity ink tank inkjet printers offer customers the ability to print without worry about the cost or running out of ink. Epson’s unique Micro Piezo inkjet technology achieves stable, high-level printing performance. Customers appreciate the environmental performance, too: with no ink cartridges to change, the series generates little waste. These factors have helped Epson’s high-capacity ink tank inkjet printers reach a cumulative 20 million units sold globally. As a leading inkjet printer company, Epson will continue to offer unique value and solutions to delight our customers.”
