The President of Ricoh met with the Minister of the Environment to discuss the evolution to a society that is carbon free.

Ricoh reported on the meeting between Yoshinori Yamashita, President and CEO, Ricoh and Koichi Yamamoto, Minister of the Environment, which took place earlier this month for an exchange of ideas on how to make the “transition to [a] zero carbon society and economy”. Yamashita discussed Ricoh’s own goals and commitments to sustainability and talked about its entry into a global initiative, RE100.

Ricoh is the first Japanese company to join the global initiative where businesses commit to “100 percent renewable electricity” and delivering renewable energy to which Ricoh has stated it will use a minimum of 30 percent by 2030 and 100 percent by 2050.

Ricoh’s statement on its environmental goal stated: “We proactively reduce environmental impact and strive to improve the Earth’s self-recovery capabilities to achieve a zero-carbon society and a circular economy through business.”

Yamamoto commented: “The advanced initiatives of Ricoh will surely give an impact to other companies. Setting high goal and trying to achieve that will drive innovation in Japanese companies.”
