Ricoh to encourage eco actions

May 30, 2017

The OEM has launched Ricoh Global Eco Action Month to commence on 1 June.

The company said in a press release that it will hold a special event “Ricoh Global Eco Action 2017” to inspire employees to take eco actions while thinking about the environment. Ricoh Group will also be holding a “Common Action Day” 5 June which aligns with “United Nations World Environment Day”.

Ricoh’s Eco Action began in 2006 and has been running annually for 12 years and this year the company established its Environmental Goals aiming at zero greenhouse gas by 2050 and have strengthened their plans for a zero carbon society “based on the Paris Agreement that came into force last year”.

The Ricoh Group will be using many concepts to reach its goal and renewable energy is one of them. The company has 100,000 employees globally and encourages them to conserve the environment and participate in information sharing activities which include families, friends, local residents and customers so that eco actions can be expanded upon.

On Action Day 5 June, Ricoh will turn off all of its logo signboards across the world. All Ricoh Group facilities will use electricity provided by natural energy and all employees will wear green clothing to highlight “Ricoh Global Eco Action Month” and the company will hold a symposium for other companies to consider renewable energy and help to achieve a zero carbon society.

Specific activities can be found on the Ricoh website.
