Representatives of CRR were at the launch of ECOBULK a new circular economy project.
David Parker, CRR, and Olivia Bertham, Oakdene Hollins were both at the launch of ECOBULK a Horizon2020-funded project. The project is set to build circular economy thinking into the design, production and end-of-life of bulky composites.
CRR said that at present it is difficult to recover bulky composites and retain their value. The project hopes to “challenge current barriers and present improved ways of working”.
This will be done by establishing the circular economy framework, working with representatives of all stages of a product’s value chain from designers to waste management companies, piloting and showcasing products in the automotive, construction and furniture sectors and creating materials information platforms that enable different options at a product’s end of life.
The four-year project is said to be ambitious. The work programmes on business models and results exploitation will be led by Oakdene Hollins.
