The ZTLL is said to combine the functions of a shredder and a granulator, in one unit.

German manufacturer ZENO GmbH has announced the release of a new model of plastic shredder, the ZTLL series, K-Zeitung reports. The model uses a cutting system with two counter knives that shreds waste to a small, uniform grain size, as opposed to the conventional two-step solution of a pre-shredder and a granulator.

The shredder, which comes in several different sizes, also offers lower noise emissions and lower fines content, according to the manufacturer; this is due to its lower cutting speed. ZENO also claims the model offers savings in terms of “space requirements, energy consumption, and operating and maintenance costs” compared to regular two-step processes.

The size of the plastic granules produced range from 8 to 14mm, ZENO says. Furthermore, it claims that the inclusion of a hydraulic ‘quick-change’ device allows users to retrieve the end product within minutes, by exchanging the screen drawer used.

The ZTLL can reportedly achieve a capacity of 1,000 to 3,000kg of plastic waste an hour, producing a granulate of 10mm. The machines come in widths of 1,000 to 2,000mm, with rotor diameters of 600 to 1,000mm.
