A Cartridge World blog gives advice on how save money, either at home or the office, by altering your printing habits.
The blog offers five main tips:
- Avoid printing full internet pages, as they are often “full of advertisements” which “take up space on the page” and “eat up ink.” Instead, simply highlight the portion of the page you would like to print and choose the “print selection only” option.
- When printing long documents, opt to print double-sided, which “cuts paper usage per project in half” and also helps to reduce waste.
- Try “eco fonts”, which “have negative space in each letter” and reduce both ink and toner usage.
- Choosing grayscale or colour. The blog advises that, before printing, you take into account “how important the colour aspects are”. If the document is “a final project” or “aesthetically important” then the use of colour is recommended, but if not “consider switching to grayscale printing”, as colour toner and colour ink are usually more pricey.
- Implement a print policy in your office. This “can help reduce frivolous printing”. The policy should have rules about “proper printing etiquette” which will “help reduce supply usage and put less strain on your office printer.”
