After commissioning a survey that revealed the stresses of setting up new technology, the OEM has launched Canon Print Assist.
As The Morning Bulletin reports, the survey commissioned by Canon Australia revealed that 50 percent of Australians avoid setting up or using a technological device due to the stress “associated with the task.” In addition, printer issues are one of the country’s main “technology gripes” at 13 percent, and with 85 percent of Australians owning a printer at home, this is an important issue for OEMs to address. Canon itself revealed that it receives “about 22,000 customer calls a year requesting help with setting up and connecting printers.”
“In fact, through this study, we found that Aussies chose setting up their printers as the third most stressful menial task in their lives – just after doing their taxes and setting up flat-pack furniture,” Jason McLean, Director – Canon Consumer Imaging, Canon Australia said.
Canon Australia has responded by launching Canon Print Assist, a new service which helps people “set up, connect and print less painfully.” The service includes a range of helpful features including step-by-step online tools, video tutorials, a helpline open 7 days a week during business hours, streamlined in-box assistance and specialised brochures for each printer model which outline its key features.
In addition, Canon Print Assist “includes highly trained in-store Print Assist specialists and easy to understand retail displays to make the purchase experience simple.”
This service is available at stores such as Harvey Norman, The Good Guys and Officeworks.
